The Results Are In!
If you're just joining us and would like to catch up on my struggles with graduating college, check out this post. You can also read about my learning disability testing here and here.
And so, without further adieu, here are the results...
I HAVE A MATH LEARNING DISABILITY!
A big one, too!
I don't exactly know how to put the test findings into plain english without having to explain everything, but I can tell you that my calculating ability is at a 6th grade math level. Whew, that is low, especially because I'm required to pass an upper division college math class!
Here's what this means for me: The psychologist wrote a report summarizing the findings of my testing for the Disability Services Department at the U. I will give his report to the department and then they will decide what to do about my Statistics course requirement. If they don't waive the requirement or replace the class with an easier, less math-centered class, the report recommends that the University provide me with a note-taker during class or allow me to record all lectures, my tests should be open-book and take-home and I should not be bound to any time limits on quizzes or tests. Not such a bad gig, eh?
I'm still hoping that they will see that I've failed the class three times and just waive the requirement so I can graduate, but we'll see what happens. Either way, I finally have answers and I am so happy!
I'm loving this Plan B!

I'm hoping they get rid of the requirement for you!!! :) Math is frustrating enough, I can't imagine your frustration with it right now!! P.S. Your blog looks amazing :)
